Hair Cap Moss has greenish brown stiff stems. It thrives in partly shade to sunny areas,it can handle foot traffic, acidic soil and moist, wet areas. It spreads quickly and has a very different appearance than most mosses. Adult plants look like something from a sci-fi movie, often having red spore pokers sticking out of it. Whereas juvenile plants are very close to the ground and tight knit in a light green to blueish color.
