Sheet Moss (Hypnum curvifolium) Sheet moss is a versatile, low-growing moss known for its ability to form dense, flat "sheets" over soil, rocks, and decaying wood. It is one of the most popular mosses for both indoor and outdoor applications due to its aesthetic appeal and relative hardiness. Appearance: Features delicate, fern-like fronds that overlap to create a lush, carpet-like texture. Its color typically ranges from a vibrant emerald green to a deeper forest green. Growth Habit: It is a prostrate moss, meaning it grows horizontally rather than vertically. This makes it an excellent choice for ground cover or lining wire baskets. Structure: Unlike many plants, it lacks a traditional root system. Instead, it uses small hair-like structures called rhizoids to anchor itself to surfaces.
